![]() ![]() ![]() Nobody likes getting feedback right in the moment, but maybe the next day it soaked in and he's trying to be a better person. My hope is that our Sylvanas was just in a mood at the time, and when it passes he might reflect on being called out. Could be they're on the edge of some serious life decisions, or it could be that they're just a stressed out mom or dad who just spent all evening cleaning up after their kids and finally gets some alone time. Could be a bad day, a bad week, a bad year. We don't know how far that "bad time" extends. That's a person you know nothing about other than they're having a bad time in this game right now. It doesn't matter that Illidan started it or that he didn't want to join voice chat, that's a person over there. Someone who was perfectly nice and friendly the first part of the game turned out to be a toxic bully who thinks it's perfectly acceptable to tell someone to "kill yourself". I just had to block and report him at that point. Why should I respect him when he won't respect the team?!" "You don't understand, HE HAD A CHANCE to be nice, but that's OVER. "You've seemed like a friendly person so far, you don't need to -" he cuts me off again. I'm not going to be NICE to this guy who won't even join voice chat. There's no reason to -" and he cuts me off with. ![]() "Hey man, you really need to work on being nicer in chat. Game to play or not, I'm not letting this guy be a bully without at least letting him know I'm not okay with that, amd I call him out. He says things like "Get on fucking voice chat or shut up" and "you're terrible at this game", and ends with the famous "Kill yourself" - not even "kys", just straight up "Kill yourself." Does all this without commenting in voice chat. Minutes later the Illidan complains again, and this just sets our Sylvanas off on him. I tried to diffuse with a joke about how silent the chat has been "To be fair, we're not really talking anyways." and it gets some friendly chatter going again. Join chat you fucking idiot." Someone who was otherwise civil in voice chat just went full toxic in text chat on this guy. "Of course the only one not in voice chat is bitching. It was then that one of our voice chat teammates (Sylvanas) goes into text chat and starts leaning into this guy hard. The one player outside voice chat (Illidan) was making bad calls and criticizing the team for it, but he was mostly civil. In a QM game, we had 4 guys join voice chat (one with mic and sound problems that weren't easily resolved). ![]() Still, I recently had an experience that really bothered me and I've been less willing to turn voice chat on since then: "Sorry guys that was a bad call" is such a wonderful tension diffuser and it makes losing so much more tolerable. Wins feel so much better when you're chatting with your teammates and the winning play was at least semi-coordinated without anyone needing to ping spam.Įven losses aren't so bad because now it's much more common for someone to simply apologize for getting caught out. My takeaway so far is that voice chat has really upped the ante on how this game makes me feel. I thought it'd be a toxic mess but it's turning out much better than I expected. ![]()
